Question : I have been prescribed progesterone cream to treat my male pattern baldness. As a male, what kind of side effects can I expect from prolonged use of this?

Progesterone cream is being used to treat male pattern baldness with promising results in most of the patients. Multiple applications are required for prolonged period of time to show some effect. It acts by inhibiting the enzyme 5 alpha reductase thereby preventing the formation of Di hydro testosterone which is the key hormone implicated in Male pattern baldness. It is very safe to use in males even when applied for long time. You may safely apply it and continue to use it under your doctor's supervision.
