Brief Answer:
Yes, you can take it.

Detailed Answer:
Dear ma'am, Hi & Welcome to healthcare magic.
The medication Providac contains beneficial bacteria ('probiotics like Lactobacillus & Bifidobacterium). It helps to maintain a balance between useful good flora and harmful (pathogenic) bacteria. It is useful in reducing the frequency of the stools and thus prevents dehydration. You can also include yoghurt (curd)or butter milk in your diet. A glass of lime tea might also help reduce the number of motions/day.
Since you have been suffering from this condition for quite some time I would advise you to consult a gastroenterologist who might advise further investigations like stool analysis & colonoscopy to find out the exact cause of diarrhea.
Hope this information was helpful to you. Do get back to me if you have further queries.
Best regards.

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics may be taken if diarrhea is not controlled.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma'am,
Good evening.
Thanks for your reply, noted its contents.
Since the exact cause of IBS is not known, so the treatment is mainly focused on the relief of symptoms so that you can live as normally as possible.
In most cases, certain life style modifications can control the mild signs & symptoms of IBS like:
1.To avoid stress and making changes in your diet and lifestyle.
2. Try to avoid foods that trigger your symptoms.
Avoid gas producing foods such as carbonated beverages, pulses, chick peas, vegetables especially cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower & raw fruits.
3. Do regular exercise, drink plenty of fluids and get enough sleep.
4. If you have troublesome diarrhea, OTC medicines like Loperamide can help control diarrhea.
5. Antispasmodic medicines like Hyoscyamine or Dicyclomine can help relieve painful bowel spasms.
6. For severe cases or diarrhea not responding to the above measures I would like to suggest antibiotics like Rifaximin which may be beneficial to suppress the overgrowth of the bacteria in the gut.
Eliwel (Amitriptyline) basically used to treat depression, nerve pain and anxiety disorders is also found to inhibit the activity of neurons that control the intestines. You may take Providac along with this medication.
Hope the suggestions given would be beneficial to you.
Best wishes.
