Question : My husband's physician left town for nine days and did not renew his Alprolozam prescription. He had an appointment with her for today and she cancelled his appointment on Friday. He explained the situation and her office assistant said it would be handled. As of today it has not been called in. I take Prozac 20 mg. daily, can he take one of these to help ease the withdrawal? He had 1/2 pill early today, and has 1/2 left - should he take it now and then tomorrow go to the ER?

Detailed Answer:
thanks for sending the question.
Prozac is not equivalent to a Xanax. If he is experiencing any symptoms of withdrawal I would suggest he goes to the emergency department for a short-term prescription.
The doctor who prescribed the medication should have another physician who covers for her 24 hours per day. This should be available through the on call service for the doctor.
