Question: Hello. My PCP has prescribed the following drugs. But another doctor has suggested switching: From Zolpidem (Ambien) to Belsomra and from Zoloft to Remeron. Now I
need more information on this advice. Also, do you recommend Linzess for IBS?

Brief Answer:
let me know more details about your symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

Zoloft is good anti-depressant and safer in patients with cardiac problems. Zolpidem is good drug for sleep onset difficulty and also safer in cardiac problems.

Belsomra is newer agent for sleep and still not in use much. But yes if still sleeping problem is there with ambien , it is a good alternative.

Remeron is antidepressant which will help in sleep also. It should be used with regular cardiac check up as it may cause blood pressure changes.

Linzess for IBS is recommended by me.

To switch to other drugs or not I need more information to guide you.

- Since when are you taking zoloft and ambien and in which dose?

- What are the current symptoms of depression and sleep disturbance with use of zoloft and ambien?

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
