Question : Hello Dr.
I had protected sex with a stripper last night. Intercourse was brief (less than two minute with ejaculation), not rough and barely any skin contact. I did leave the condom in my underwear in order for me to move towards the restroom. I had not shaved in a while and did not notice any cuts on her or myself. I am male /25yo and she was female and roughly same age. Roughly 1 hour after intercourse, I cleaned myself with antibacterial clothes and 30 minutes later i took a shower. What are the odds of catching any STI in this scenario. I don't know if she was positive for anything but would like to know your thoughts.

Brief Answer:
Very very small probability!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this encounter and all the inconveniences this has caused you. I have reviewed your information and it is unlikely that you would have gotten any potential infection from it. With a condom well in place up to the end of the encounter, there is very little to be concerned about. Be relax about it. However, I encourage you to avoid having sea with persons whose health is totally unknown to you.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you very much Dr.
I am primarily concerned about herpes and hpv which i believe are the ones which I would be most at risk of having contracted since it was protected sex. Assuming that the person had the infection, how likely would I be to contract it if i did not have any cuts and a condom was used. Is a PCR blood test for herpes recommended and if so, after how long can this test be taken and what is the efficiency of this test?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
very very small probability!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Given all the measures the likeliness is low but however not zero. I cannot give a figure for this but it is certainly very low and probably less than 1%.
PCR is not recommended to screen for these conditions. There is no gains in doing so without symptoms. I recommend you stay calm and only seek further care if you develop any symptoms of concern.
I hope this helps. I wish you well.
