Question : Hi I've been doing a Valium taper after 2 month's of Xanax use. I've been tapering from 12.5mg to 5mg of Valium Which I currently am on except this whole week that I tapered 7.5mg I took one teaspoon of taurine as it helped me sleep. Last night I took 2 spoons and another one 6 hour's after I fell asleep and now all I can feel is a similar feeling to a Xanax cold turkey but not has bad. Has this put my brain chemistry out of wack or is it the equivalent of a benzo Withdrwals as I feel like I'm all irritable and can not relax with panic attacks and not being able to settle with buring sensations. I have. Not seizured seizured as I am not prone to them but feel this will not subside and is this basically a with drawal?

Brief Answer:

This could be a mild withdrawal.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

This has not damaged your brain chemicals. Even if very gradual tapering is done with Benzodiazepine and equivalent doses are used even then individuals see withdrawal symptoms.

The symptoms could present as mild anxiety, restlessness, poor sleep, non-refreshing sleep, weird sensations in limbs, restless legs or even panic attacks.

So just stay relaxed, these are basically mild withdrawal symptoms.

You can use low dose like 2.5 to 5 mg Diazepam on SOS basis to remain relaxed.

So a mild withdrawal is not like a xannax withdrawal and this will subside.
I have currently used 5.mg already today of valium as I don't want to go up anymore as it will mean I'm reinstating a higher dose as I am tapering.

This is not dangerous being a mild withdrawal.
I am scared constantly that this feeling won't ease.
Will another 2.5mg dose ruin the taper as I want to wait til my next day to take as required

Brief Answer:

This is not a serious thing.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Yes, that will subside.

Yes, there is no serious fear for this. No need to get afraid of this.

Another 2.5 mg will not ruin the tapering. But if you can tolerate then you can wait for one more day.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
