Can Tylenol And Xanax Be Taken Together?

default
Posted on Tue, 23 Feb 2016
Question: Hi, I've been having major anxiety mixed with a bit of depression. I've had two horrible nights of no sleep using 10 mg of Xanax only. Would mixing Tylenol PM and Xanax be dangerous? Thanks so much.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Xanax is not a good medication for sleep. Its half-life is short, and wears off in the middle of the sleep cycle. I would strongly recommend not using it, especially at the dangerously high doses you are using. To answer your question, mixing it with Tylenol PM would be very dangerous.

Instead, try Benadryl, melatonin, or simply good sleep hygiene. Other prescription medications are also far more effective than Xanax, such as trazodone or Remeron.
