Brief Answer:
Your prescribed treatment is the recommended protocol in shingles

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us,

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Valtrex is valacyclovir which is an antiviral drug and prescribed for infections like shingles which is caused by herpes virus.

2. Valtrex is recommended at an adult dose of 1 gram orally every 8 hours for 7 days or as prescribed by your doctor.

3. Valtrex should be started within 48 to 72 hours after the first appearance of rashes for effective treatment.

4. Tramadol is for pain relief and given in dose of 50 mg every 4 to 6 hours depending on your pain.

5. Shingles causes a lot of burning pain and discomfort which might persist for about two weeks and sometimes longer. Please take nutritious meals and drink adequate water.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
