Question : I am taking azilect for Parkinson's and was prescribed Valtrex for cold sores. Is it safe?
Brief Answer:
It is safe.
Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Valacyclovir (Valtrex) is a commonly prescribed drug for herpes labialis, herpes infection of the lips which form your cold sores. Usually it is prescribed only for 1 day in that type of infection.
Fortunately it has no know interaction with Azilect so the two can be safely taken together. It doesn't affect Parkinson's symptoms either, so it is safe in that regard as well.
So bottom line there are no special safety concern for its use in your case.
I hope to have been of help.
