Can Vitamin D Deficiency Lead To Frequent Infections?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Jun 2016
Question: My age is 51( male). No Bp/No Daibetes until now. I frequently get Running Nose/Sneezing/Watery Eyes/Itchy mouth roof. This is only in the last 1.5 years. My recent test on Vitamin D is 9.20. Vitami b12 is 291. Will this be a cause for this frequent above condition. FYI i go to GYM atleast 4 days a week. Wanted to know the root cause? By the way i get this triggered especially when i am in air condition room.

Brief Answer:
You are mostly having allergic rhinitis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No, I don't think vitamin D3 deficiency or vitamin B12 deficiency can cause this.
By your history and description, possibility of allergic rhinitis is more.
Your symptoms are suggestive of rhinitis. And worsening in air conditioner so possibility of allergic (cold air) rhinitis is more.
So please let me know
1. Do you have history of allergies?
2. Have you ever undergone eosinophil count or serum IgE level?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

1. There is no history of allergies with me. This is there only for the last one and a half years. During my childhood i will have sneezing during January (winter season) but will go off. But for the last 20 or 25 years nothing like this.

2. Yes i have done the Eosinophils (WB/Automated Counter) very recently ( 31st March) and it is 4 .

will be glad to answer many more Doctor.
Thanks.
