Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: I am currently taking escitalopram (5 weeks) because i found out my wife was having a sexual affair which caused me to become very depressed. I cannot stop thinking about it or having visual images in my head about it. My therapist thinks maybe I should change to Wellbutrin. Any advice?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

I would make sure you first increase the dose to the maximum dosage, 20mg daily, and remain at this dose for at least 4 weeks. If you have already done this, switching to Wellbutrin would be a reasonable options. Often people who do not respond to one medication respond very well to another, so don't lose hope!
