Alcohol and xanax both cause decrease alertness and sedation. However after 5 hours of drinking 0.5 mg xanax is not going to cause any serious problem. But please do not take it more.
And yes inform your treating doctor in next meeting about such incidence. So you can be counselled regarding the same to prevent such things in future.
