                                            Question : Hi-
I have tried Crestor and Pravastatin for elevated cholesterol and both have cause muscle pain and weakness so I've had to stop them. My doctor wants to see if I would try Zetia now. I have moderately high cholesterol - ldl usually in high 140s, and hdl in high 60s. My lipoprotein(a) is very high at nearly 200.
Would appreciate advice on the Zetia or other intervention. Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
After going through your medical details I understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that some of the cholesterol-lowering meds do cause muscle pains in selective people then we need another substitute for the same problem.
For your high cholesterol levels, you can switch to Zetia and also improve your diet for better results. Adapt lifestyle modification which includes:
1. DASH diet
2. No smoking/alcohol consumption
3. Daily physical activity for 40 min
Hope this information will answer your query.
