Question: Hi,

I am 40 years old. I just tested and found that my HBA1C was 6.4. The doctor said I was prediabetic but id not need medication. Told me to follow a healthy diet and exercise. Can this be reversed. I am overweight at 88 kg with a height of 5.3. I have been diagnosed with PCOS earlier.

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
HI.
I am Dr Mittal.
I will be answering your query.

yes at the moment it is controllable.
The main reason possibly for this prediabetes is your overweight condition.
It is highly likely that once you manage to settle the weight issues, this prediabetes may settle down.
So do control your weight.
At 5ft 3 in your approx weight ideally is 65 to 66 kg assuming a moderate build.

Diet and moderate physical activity are the best steps for you at the moment.

I will however suggest that here onwards you should check your sugars and HbA1c at least biannually so as to detect acceleration to diabetes status at the earliest.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
Feel free to contact me for further information on the related topic.

Best of luck.
