Can A TB Patient Gain Weight?
Question: Is tb paitent can get fat, if weight increased means they dont hav tb..
Brief Answer:
Nothing like that
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the query
In Tb patients in the initial stage, weight doesn't get reduced.
As body immunity goes down , he will be affected with many disease and eventually his intake capacity will go down and person loses his weight.
If he is on treatment eventually his immunity and appetite increases and patient starts gaining weight.
But it is not mandatory that if patient started gaining weight , he is cured of Tb or dont have Tb
Take care

Hi

Tb and loss of weight are co related.
If you are gaining weight from 50 to 70 kg doesnt confirms that you are free from Tb. You have to get done lab tests for confirmation saying that you are cured

For confirmation you should visit your nearest RNTCP or any lab , your sputum tests should come negative for 3 consecutive times.
Or Tb PCR you can get done, it is 100% conclusive
