Question : Can a gall stone of size 16 mm cause obstructive jaundice.
Brief Answer:
It’s possible
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Gall stones of any size can cause obstructive jaundice. The stone may dislodge from the gallbladder and may block cystic duct (a tube that brings bile from gallbladder) or dislodge further and may block the opening in the duodenum(part of small bowel) and can cause obstructive jaundice. These are all possibilities and doesn’t mean that you will definitely develop jaundice.
If you have symptoms like pain or jaundice you can go for cholecystectomy (surgical removal of the gallbladder).
Wishing you good health.
Thanks
