Can A Head Injury Cause Phantom Sounds Of Fluid In The Head?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Oct 2018
Question: I was startled last night while sleeping. It felt like a snow ball hit me in my head. I felt everything to see if I had a stroke, everything seemed ok. But as I went back to sleep, I could hear a fluid sound in My head, like water running. I raised the head end of the bed about 5 degrees, thinking this would help the glyphatic system clear waste material from my brain. (Did his about a month ago). I feel good now. What might this mean? The feeling of fluid in my head lasted for 30 seconds or less, then I fell asleep. This happened twice in the same morning. I didn't experience any of the other items on your list. I don't take medications, but do take vitamins, B complex, C, D3, L-Arginine, Magnesium, zinc sometimes, multi vitamins, cranberry pills, furosemide, krill oil.
I eat berries, nuts, collagen, raisins, bananas, some salads, beef, some fish. Limit all wheat foods, no dairy, except some hard cheese occasionally, very little sugar.
I did have CIPD about two years ago, I still have feelings in my hands and feet.
Thank you Dr Lekshmi

Brief Answer:

Not a neurological issue

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The symptoms you described is not concerning any neurological issues including CIDP. The symptoms are not typical for ENT issues too.

If you do not notice recurrence, then it is nothing to be worried about and most likely due to waking suddenly up from sleep.

If it recurs, I would recommend following up with an ENT specialist, as inner ear issues need to be ruled out then.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
