Question : I went to my GP this past week. He diagnosed the pain in my breast as mastitis (sp?). The pain in my breast is so bad that I grind my teeth. I am on antibiotics and am scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram Tuesday. In the meantime would it be OK to use a heating pad on my breast?

Brief Answer:
Yes!

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Am afraid you have an abscess and that requires incision and drainage. Also, am not sure why your doctor wants a mammogram at a time when you have an active infection of the breast. I would have recommended and ultrasound to screen for abscess and guide drainage.

Sure, you can use a heating pad as long as it relieves the pain.

Hope I have answered your query.
