Question: Can a torn rotator cuff cause neck pain as well as shoulder pain? I also have trouble pushing and pulling, lifting anything heavy, reaching for something in front or behind me. Sometimes my arm just drops when I try to lift something. YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Neck pain less likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

From the symptoms,it seems that there is a rotator cuff injury. But it is less likely to cause neck pain.An associated cervical disc prolapse needs to be considered and ruled out if the above symptoms are associated with neck pain.

Did you have a recent history of trauma or injury to the shoulder or neck?
Do you experience tingling / numbness in the upper limb?

An MRI of the neck and the shoulder can help confirm the diagnosis.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.
