Question: I have Femoral Artery blockages-no pain, some blue circle spots on feet-but no pain--just look like bruises and am presently getting chelation 2t weekly to help remove some of the stuff lining the vessels. I'd like to add acupuncture OR Shiatsu massage ,if it would be helpful---I do NOT want any invasive vascular procedures Any other suggestions? Am trying to lose weight as well(of course)

Brief Answer:

Management of femoral artery occlusion

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The management of femoral artery occlusion depends on your symptoms and severity of the disease.

Since you are not complaining of active symptoms, surgery is highly unlikely in your case.

Conservative management is by following a healthy diet, exercising regularly, antiplatelet therapy like Clopidogrel, statin therapy if you have high cholesterol and Cilostazol.

You can continue physical therapy and chelation therapy as recommended. Stop smoking if you do so.

Acupuncture and massages have not proven to improve artery blockage. However, there is no harm or contraindications in trying those.

Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider to add clopidogrel and Cilostazol to your treatment regime.

If conservative management provides no improvement, then minimally invasive endovascular procedures or surgery can be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

AS you've likely noticed, my blood/lab results are vey good-- all cholesterol #'s are good--and I'm not taking any drugs--What is "clopidogrel" &"cilastozol" what does it do? What other non drug "meds" could I take in its place? as an anti platelet solution? As I said at the beginning of this communication, surgery is off the table I don;t smoke,I have no pain and while you mentioned to "continue with Physical therapy"-are you referring to the chelation? are you recommending physio therapy? Do yu folks have any Naturopaths OR Alternative therapists in this program/service that you would care to or be able to consult with? Or tell me who they are and I'll do so mself? Thank you for your efforts & attention to my plight. This is an interesting process---we should get one like it in Canada--or at the very least-Toeonto!! Hello,

Please continue both chelation therapy and physical therapy as scheduled.

Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medication which prevents the formation of blood clots. Cilostazol is a vasodilator which improves blood flow to the legs.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

An alternative vasodilator to Cilostazol that increases blood flow to legs is Naftidrofuryl. Please consult with your treating physician to receive a prescription.

Unfortunately, I am unable to direct your question to another doctor here. However, here is the link to one of the doctor's page who practices alternative medicine (homoeopathy).

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
