Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: I have a air condition unit that I have on at night during the hot muggy evenings. I've had it on for about 10 days and the past few days my throat hurts when I breathe my chest feels very tight & I can get out of breathe / shortness of breathe when doing normal things - I am healthy and fit at a healthy bmi and I'm curious what I can do and if this air conditioning unit would be a factor?

Brief Answer:
I will say turn the air conditioner off!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. They are not suggestive of a specific disease condition and point more to and environmental exposure. With the recent new change vein the air conditioner, I will advice that you switch it off. This way we will review your symptoms to see if they are getting better or not. If they are, then for sure the problem is the air conditioner and you should work on getting it serviced or being replaced. If the symptoms persist, only at this time will I recommend thorough examination and testing to look for other possible causes of similar symptoms which in most cases are allergens.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
