Question : Does brain MRI catch all brain problems? My cardiologist is concern that the left side of my face swells at night. I have had bad H/A at night and my BP would go up. This all would happen at 3 am. The BP meds have stopped the h/a and the high BP but not the swelling at night. I am now swelling on my right side of my face but not as bad as the left. I did see an ENT but he found nothing wrong.

                                    Brief Answer:
Take steps as advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Mri will not be able to pick such abnormalities.
Episodic swelling occurring at night only may be due to sleeping over one side.
Edema especially pedal is due to amlodipine.
You can get it changed and see the results.
Try to change postures during sleep.
Head end should be slightly raised.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

The original swelling on my left side is on the opposite side that I sleep on, when in bed. The swelling originally started while I was sleeping in a recliner with my head up because that the only way I could sleep the first 4 weeks after the surgery. I still sleep with my head elevated in bed.
