Question: Hi thanks for being there A heavy metal object fell off a tall bureau and knocked my head three time when I try to remove it .My right side of my face feels numb upon awakening . Could a brain injury cause trigeminal nerve damage. also the roots of my teeth cracked from the falling object. I am having an MRI without contrast tomorrow. can this procedure show nerve damage?

Brief Answer:
MRI cannot show nerve damage!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this. It is unlikely that this caused a permanent nerve damage. This might be related to contusion that would get better with time. However, an MRI cannot show a nerve damage. If there is great suspicion for that, then an EMR would be done. Examination by a neurologist would be informative an guiding on whether there is need for such an examination or not.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
