Brief Answer:
To be started after completion of the 5th month.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

You are to start Similac 2 after completion of the 5th month.

The nutritional requirements of a 6 month old child is more and hence needs to be supplemented with semi-solids. Initially thick liquids like fruit juice may be given. This is to be followed by mashed items like banana and boiled potatoes. One new food item is to be introduced per week. Gradually you move to less mashed forms.

Let me know what exactly you wish to know in detail and I will guide you further.

Brief Answer:
Orange and pomogranate juice are fine to be given.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Oragne and pomogranate juice are fine to be given. Glucose need not be given separately. It is good that you have introduced small quantities of mashed banana. You can also boil rice together with pulses and vegetables and give it in mashed form.

Hi,
Shall I give a unboiled apple to him, I heared from most of the people that not to give apple without boiling.

Is there any reason that why will not give unboiled apple?

Answered by Dr. Diptanshu Das (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Giving unboiled apple is actually better than giving boiled apples.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

It is meaningless to give boiled apple. All you do by boiling is to destroy a number of nutrients. Giving grated (uboiled) apple is a far better option.
