Question : Can an overly tight dura be the cause of our 17-year-old granddaughter's chronic pain in her neck and shoulders and back and arms? A physiotherapist is raising this possibility.

Hi,

Tight dura is a rare occurrence and is seen rarely but from birth.

Chronic pain in shoulder and arms can be sometimes due to problems with intervertebral discs or the vertebral bodies itself.

Do consult a neurologist for the same, he may order for an MRI scan of the neck which provides detailed description of the cause if it lies there.
