Can An Ultrasound Detect Sperms After Ejaculation?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 May 2017
Question: I got an ultrasound done and there were what looked like little swimmers or sperm identifiable on the record from what I could see but I hadn't had sex in about 2 years. Can sperm be that slow to get to the egg? Also can the introduction of new sperm from another partner increase competition between sperm and make the lazy ones more motivated?

Brief Answer:
Sperms can't be seen on ultrasound.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

The sperms cannot be seen on an ultrasound scan. It needs a high magnification microscope to see a sperm. A sperm survives in body only for 48-72 hours. It cannot stay in a female body for 2 years. As the sperm ages it's motility decreases.

Presence of other sperms does not affect the motility of the sperms.
