Question : can a barrel chest be cured? i am age 25 and have a barrel chest and need to fixed
Brief Answer:
No need to worry for this deformity if you are asymptomatic.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Barrel shaped chest is also known as pectus excarinatum. And in most cases no treatment is required because patient is asymptomatic.
So if you are not having any symptoms like cough, breathlessness etc than no need to worry for this deformity.
And surgery is the only available treatment. This surgery is very risky procedure with not so great success rate. So better not to undergo surgery if you are asymptomatic.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
