Question: Can bruising and trauma to prostate from use of anal sex toys raise PSA levels? Also can that bruising give a false positive for nodule on MRI?

Brief Answer: Yes recent prostate trauma will elevate PSA. Detailed Answer: Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic! Yes any form of trauma or prostate manipulation would cause PSA elevation although it is very difficult to determine or predict how high the PSA will be elevated. In terms of nodule by MRI, I don't think a bruise would appear or mimic as a nodule in MRI as they would appear differently. Regards, Manuel C. See IV, M.D. DPBU FPUA

In more serious trauma and bruising for how long a period can the PSA stay elevated. Also if there is prostate trauma, and indeed there is cancer. Can this manipulation cause the cancer to spread?

Brief Answer: PSA half life is 2-3 days. Detailed Answer: Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic! The half life of serum PSA is 2-3 days therefore after three days from the prostate trauma your serum PSA should decrease by half if that is the reason why your PSA is elevated. The manipulation or bruising from anal sex wouldn't aggravate or cause the cancer to spread or dissiminate. I would suggest having the prostate biopsy specifically targeting the prostate nodules seen on MRI. Anything less than a biopsy is purely speculation. Regards, Manuel C. See IV, M.D. DPBU FPUA

My PSA level was recently pegged at 3.95, there were two very small nodules seen on the MRI which are about 1% the size of the prostate. They did not see any spread to bone or lymph nodes. What would you say is the probability that it is Cancer?

Brief Answer: Any nodule in the prostate should be biopsied. Detailed Answer: Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic! Any nodule in the prostate is presumed cancer unless proven otherwise regardless of PSA. Cancer spread to the bone and lymph nodes is always a late stage in the disease and is almost never seen at your current PSA level of 3.95. I would say your probability of cancer is 1 out of 3 and if ever there is cancer it will be in the early stages were cure is very good.
