Question: Hi, I have a creatinine meter that varies from 84 to 120 umol/l. Does having a big meal affect the numbers and is it possible to get such variable results?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Creatinine levels may vary unless they stay in normal range. Your levels are upper limit of normal. Also creatinine meters may bot be that reliable so the fluctuation in results may be an error, a lab error or in this case instrument error.

Yes heavy meals, specially meals rich in meat and fish with all other seafoods etc can affect creatine levels temporarily but creatinine does not cross the normal limits.

But with such fluctuations and variations, one must get assessed for kidney damage as well as blood pressure as derangement in any of these two parameters can contribute to creatinine variance.

Talk to your doctor and let them run some labs and confirm creatinine levels with more reliable lab machinery and manage you accordingly.
