Question : Can dysentery cause gastric hemorrhage and/or gastric cancer and/or peptic ulcers?
Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting in healthcaremagic.
Paying respect to your father.
Dysentry is infection of colon that is the last part of gut where the stool is formed. Infection here causes mucus and blood in stool along with pain in lower part of abdomen. It is in no way affect the stomach.
Whereas peptic ulcer, gastric cancer are diseases of the stomach, which is the first part of gut. There is no relation between an infection affecting the colon resulting in associated diseases in stomach.
However both the disease of stomach and colon can coexist as independent diseases.
Hope this will help.
