Can Ecstatic Thoracic Aorta Lead To Heart Disease?

Question: Hi, I am concerned after hearing today that I have ecstatic thoracic aorta. I will be getting an ultrasound in 2 weeks. Can this lead to heart disease?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Ectatic throacic aorta is basically an aneurysmal dilation of thoracic aorta also called thoracic ectatic aneurysm of aorta. They will run some labs to sort out the size of the dilation and then manage accordingly. if the size warrants surgery they will repair the aneurysm by surgical approach after correlating clinically and risk factors for surgery. As it involves the root of aorta in heart then yes it can cause heart disease as well. Its most likely to cause heart disease if its a dissecting one.
