Question: I have been treated for depression and anxiety for 25 plus years. Instead of medicine I would like to try essential oils. What would be your advice about this matter?

Brief Answer:
Behavioral therapy should benefit you.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concerns. Let me mention that depression is a state of mind. It occurs due to imbalance of neurotransmitters in our brain. It makes us vulnerable to the changes that occur around us. Medicines try to restore the balance of neurotransmitters. But rather than medicines, it is more important to learn to cope with the situation. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) help you with this. A psychologist can help you with such therapies. This is more important. Based on your response, he may suggest further steps but I do not think that essential oils will help in any way.

Hopefully that would help. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.
