Can Gastritis Cause Sore Throat Frequently?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: I am a 48 yr old female. I have had a cold for over a month. It starts as a cold then fir a day or so it gets a bit worse. Mostly right now its a sore throat and just feeling crappy but I can still function. My skin is a bit flush and warm. I have had gastritis and was on medication ( pantoprazole) for about 10 months. I stopped taking the meds a few weeks ago as the pain was gone and other than a bit of heart burn and gas occasionaly )which I control with gas x or nexium) its really not bothering me. Could these be symptoms of my gastritis?? If so how do I get rid of these cold symptoms??

Brief Answer:
Gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
It may be recurrence of gastritis.
You may start the medication which you took on previous occasion, and continue for about a month even after your symptoms are gone.
Avoid aspirin or other pain killers as much as possible as they cause gastritis.
As for as cold is concern I treat my patients of cold with old gastritis by warm saline gargle, steam inhalation and occasional cold tablets which contain Paracetamol, Cetirizine and decongestant like psudoephidrine or phenyephrine.
Decongestants should be avoided if one has High blood pressure or any heart problem.
Hope I have answered your query, if any thing else, you are welcome or you can close the question by rating the answer.
Good wishes.
