Can Genital Warts Be Transmitted By Sexual Intercourse?
Question: Hello, my question is about genital warts transmission.
I was diagnosed in Dec 2009 and have been Wart free for 15 + months. My last wart was frozen in May 2012 but I saw something that looked like a wart in December 2012, however it came off with relative ease with the brush of a hand. So, not sure what that was.
I am Engaged to a virgin. The plan was to have no genital contact, no oral, etc until she completes all 3 Gardasil Shots. Her 1st shot was administered on 4/11/14.
On 4/20/14, we had an incident. We were grinding with clothes on, her thong and me with boxers that resemble a pair of shorts that come up 2 to 3 inches above the knee. As I rolled off her back, my penis became exposed ( button came undone) and rubbed her left buttox cheek (maybe for 3 seconds), close to the anus but on the cheek.
What is the percent chance that this rubbing transmitted HPV virus to my fiance?
What is the percent chance that she contracts HPV after all 3 shots are adminstered and THEN we start having unprotected sex? I understand there is some level of cross protection beyond hpv types 6, 11, 16, 18
Is there likely a reduced chance of transmiting the virus since I have been wart free for 15 months or more ( I have extremely regular checks from my dermatologist who has deemed me clear)?

First of all remove the fear from your mind that your fiancee will developed warts if she comes in contact of you.
Two conditions must be fulfilled for viral transmission.
1. The other person must be susceptible to virus. Not everyone is susceptible to HPV even if there is a close contact.
2. The other partner should have fresh lesions. Since you are symptom free for long, it is safe to have sex.
Regarding the current exposure, there is no chance of transmission as there was no breach in skin.
Don't worry.
It's good to complete course of vaccine.

What do you think are the chances of her contracting hpv after she has recieved all 3 shots and only then we start having unprotected sex for the life of our marriage? Including vaginal, oral, and possibly anal (is anal a higher risk of trasnmision)?
Also, what do you understand avout the cross protection of the gardasil vaccine beyond typea 6, 11, 16, 18.

The risk of transmission is only when you have an active lesion.
Anal involves more friction, leading to greater amount of micro trauma and hence more chances of contacting infection.
Again I will stress upon the fact that she must be susceptible and you must be having active lesion for the spread.
6, 11, 16 and 18 are the viruses associated with cervical cancer and hence are important to be protected against.
Cross reactivity also protect a bit against 31 and 33 types, again associated with cervical cancer.
Please dont worry and enjoy your sexual life.
HPV is not that big concern.
Just relax.
