Can Genital Warts Be Transmitted Through Unprotected Oral Sex?

Question: My boyfriend and I had protected genital sex and unprotected oral sex. Last week he informed me that he had an appointment with a Urologist due to kidney issues. He has suffered from kidney stones for many years and they are trying to figure out what is bringing them on. At this appointment the doctor did an examine and noticed (1) wart on his penis. He talked to him about HPV and prescribed a cream for him. Does this mean that it's official he has the hpv genital warts? My boyfriend also has issues with keeping an erection. So, we met in November. We've had protected sex (4) times and unprotected oral sex twice. We have not had any type of intercourse since January (and its now April) since this is a very embarrassing issue for him. I try to be very understanding.
This past week (scared to death) I went to my gynecologist and informed him of what had happened. Crying in his office and explaining to him that this is the second man that I have ever slept with and we are planning to get married. He did an examine and thank goodness did not find anything. He did do a pap smear to check for hpv. He also found something on my anus and was unable to determine if it was a wart or a hemorrhoids. He did a biopsy and we are waiting on the results.
My questions:
1. Is there a chance that my boyfriends genital wart is not an std?
2. Is there a chance that I will get a negative result from my pap smear even though we have had sex? If it is negative does that still mean that still I have hpv since we slept together? If I do get a negative test result is it safe to marry him or is this something that we will pass back and forth?
3. Very, very concerned about getting some sort of oral std. I have suffered from cold sores in my mouth since I was a kid. Now I've read that if you have always had symptoms of the oral herpes in your mouth the chances decrease for the genital area. Is that true? If not, how bad are the outbreaks on the lips?
This is a lot of personal information and I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help.

1. Almost all genital warts are related to HPV ma'am, unfortunately

2. Yes there is, but not because you may have not contracted it, but because the incubation time is anywhere between a few weeks to months. So may be your boyfriend has transmitted it to you (by the way, the infection can be transmitted even without the presence of a wart if he indeed has it), but you are still in your incubation period

3. Yes it is true, but that is in relation to herpes ma'am, not HPV which we were discussing above. And the cold sores are most probably related to HSV-1.

I hope I have explained things to you in a manner best understood by you. Please do not hesitate to write to me about any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
