Question : I am a double lung transplant patient with chronic kidney disease. My granddaughter has just been diagnosed with hoof & mouth disease & is coming to my house for Thanksgiving. Could this cause complications for me if I were to catch it?
Brief Answer:
She will no longer be contagious!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Hand-mouth and foot disease has no particular additional risk in persons with lung transplant. Besides, your daughter would no longer be contagious by the time she comes for thanksgiving as persons are rarely contagious beyond 5days from the onset of this disease.
I hope this helps. I wish you well.
