Question: I have a question ...Can hepatitis B or jaundice of any form cause segmental vitiligo ?
Because i have seen 2 of such cases in our family including me. In both the cases
we had jaundice before and after some time vitiligo and they stopped advancing.

Its been 15 yrs for me and it has not advanced at all (In the leg).
Can it ever relapse and can it cause problem to my childrens.

Brief Answer:
No jaundice not associated with vitiligo, very minimal chances of relapse

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
No, vitiligo is not associated with hepatitis B or jaundice of any kind. It can be a coincidence in your case but a positive family history is present in 20 percent to 30 percent of the individuals affected by vitiligo due to genetic factors.
Segmental vitiligo has stronger association with hereditary factors. Segmental vitiligo has a relatively stable course as compared to vitiligo vulgaris and since your disease is stable for 15 years there are very less chances of it being active again.
As far as your children are concerned no one can predict whether they can have vitiligo or not but as you are having vitiligo there is always 20 percent chance of them being affected.
I hope to have answered your query.
