Can Hiatal Hernia Occur From Heavy Lifting When Diagnosed With ARD And Sight Allergies?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Sep 2017
Question: Hi,
I was diagnosed with nodules in my thyroid which after tests indicate that they are not cancerous. But I was also diagnosed with ARD plus slight allergies to corn dust. As a woman I do some heaving lifting at work, lifting 50 to 65 lb pallets in a odd way and I wasn't sure if a hiatal hernia might be out the the question. As my ard is not any better with the medication. I don't actually have heartburn, but rather some post nasal drip with a metal taste in my mouth and somewhat of a soar throat.

Brief Answer:
Please follow the current/ongoing treatment strictly

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic,

I can understand your concern,

As you explain the history the first recommendation is that to please use the current treatment correctly and strictly for at least one month.

A hiatal hernia might be present too and with an abdominal ultrasound, you can discover it. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for it only surgery in advanced cases.

Please try to avoid activities that may worsen your allergy for the time being.

If after using the inhaler you are not feeling better, then if you were my patient I would reexamine you for other causes or change the treatment for example in a nebulizer for some days and I would reevaluate your condition.

I hope to have helped you,

Regards and feel free to ask me again

I should have told you that I've been on this medication for 3 months. I have asked my doctor to change my med and this is the 3rd kind I've been on and it seems to be better than the other two, but I'm not completely satisfied.
When should I go back to my doctor? I have two more months of meds to take.
What is the duration of ARD? I've heard a lifetime.
What is the metal taste in my mouth?
Does my nodes in my thyroid affecting my ard?
Why did I get the nodes and ard at the same time?
Sorry for all my questions, I just think it's strange that I got both at the same time after catching a bad cold and taking prescribed antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

If you are treating for ARD and there is not so much difference in your clinical picture this mean that your hiatal hernia play e negative role in it.

If you say that the last treatment is working in some way than wait until two or three months and than go back to your doctor.

You should also be careful with the meals ,frequently and in small quantity,no caffeine,no alcohol,no spicy.

The duration of ARD is a lifetime because of the non correct closening of the stomach valvula which means from the insuficiiency of the gastro esophageal sphincter.
The metal taste in your mouth is from the gastric acidic secretions which regurgitate in your mouth.

No your thyroid nodes are not involved in your ARD and their coexistence is casual.

The cold only made them evident it was not the cause ,even if you filled nothing problematic till than.

Do not worry and do correctly the treatment

Regards

Dr.Jolanda
