Can Homeopathy And Allopathy Be Availed Of Together?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Jul 2015
Question: Hello Doctor,

I am writing you back for a generic advice between allopathy and homeopathy as you give very informative reply which helps understanding the root cause of everything.
One of my friend who is studying homepathy was telling me "Allopathic medicine helps to dry the accumulated cough in lung. This ensures speedy recovery but it may lead to some consequence of repeated infection or shortening of breath.".

I understand he will be bias as he is currently studying homeopathy. Just wanted to know is it true Homepathy is better to build long term immunity?

Also please suggest can allopathy and homeopathy medicines can be continued together?

Thanks and Regards

Brief Answer:
If prescribed carefully allopathic medication are safe

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for choosing me for the answer

One thing I want to tell you that if prescribed as per recommendation allopathic medications are safe.
There are ongoing research on every topics in allopathic field.
As I told you to avoid dextromethorphan as it is a cough suppressant and should not be given in small children.
Many physician prescribe this inadvertently, but that should not be done.
In research studies there are different classes of recommendation depending on the safety. Both phenylephrine and chlorpheniramine are class 1 recommendation for use in cough and cold.
I can assure you safety of these medication based on several research studies.
Although when you go through the side effects of medication there are a number of side effects mentioned for each medication. But again the recommendations are based on benefit side effect ratio and if benefit is more, then only it gets recommended by research panel.
I can not comment much on homeopathic medication but the allopathic medication if given under physician guidance with proper dosage it is safe.

I hope this helps.
I shall be glad to clear your further doubts if any.
Regards

Thanks a lot doctor.

With the reference to our previous discussions i am currently giving her the below medicines for the past 3 days

1)Syp T-minic 3 ml two times a day.
2) syp Cetrizine 3 ml at night during bed time.
2)Syrup Ambrodil 5 ml three times a day.
4)Nasal saline drop 1-2 drops in each nostril 4-5 times a day.
5)water steam vapor.

I would like to say that the severity of cough is now on the lower side , she is coughing mainly during night and while sleeping and the frequency has decreased a lot.

Issue is with the mucus, her nose seems to be blocked when she is lying down even after giving Otrinoz or Nasal saline drop.
Though she is not breathing using her mouth and i am not able to suck anything using the mucus sucker but when she is trying to take deep breath there is a sound that i can hear shows that there is mucus accumulation in her nose.
Any advice for the same.

Also please let us know how long we need to continue the medicines?

Thanks and Regards
Also wanted to understand that due to season change we are trying not to open the windows of our house frequently after 5 pm. Now this makes the room bit hot and at night my baby sweats and wet her cloths. So will it be ok if we switch-on the AC with 28-30 C or that will again increase cough for all of us?

Brief Answer:
You can use AC and continue the same medication

Detailed Answer:
It is better to avoid exposure to changing weather.
You can use AC if anyone of you are not intolerant to it.Temperature of 27-29 Celsius will be OK.This temperature range comes under comfortable zone.

I would suggest you to continue the medication for next 4-5 days depending on the improvement in the symptoms.

Try your best to avoid Otrinoz drop as if given continuously it can cause rebound congestion.Give nasal saline drop as frequent as possible.
Again I request you to keep patience, give her time, don't get too much anxious. The severity will decrease and I am sure she will recover completely.

All my best wishes for her good health.

Warm regards
