Question : I am treated for hypothyroid with 75mg synthyroid. Recently I've been taking out of work due to vertigo, ringing in ears, brain fog, confusion with speech and saying wrong words unintentionally. Also doing things without knowing what I a doing @ the moment. recently I am getting chest pains, nausea, and terrible taste in my mouth. Could all this be caused by the thyroid?
Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
As long as your TSH and Free T4 are in target range, it is unlikely your symptoms are due to thyroid.
I generally use a TSH target of 0.4 to 2, while aiming to keep the Free T4 closer to upper end of the range for normal.
Some of the symptoms you are experiencing are possible in people with an under-active thyroid or one that is not adequately treated with the right dose.
However once the dose is appropriate, one cannot attribute any symptoms to a thyroid condition
