Posted on Mon, 28 Apr 2014
Question: Hi Sir, I recently took a body to body nude massage at a massage parlor. The therapist sat near my penis and there was casual contact of my penis with her vagina ( they also got rubbed against each other) but there was no penetration involved. So would like to know if there is any chance of HIV infection due to this. Would also like to know if casual breast sucking can also be a mode of transmission for HIV. Would be really thank ful for an early reply

Brief Answer: Get tested Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic. I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your concern and i have understood it. This is an exposure, no way to sugar coat it. You should get tested for STIs. If negative you can stop worrying. Someone could get any three of these STDs e.g HIV, Syphilis, Herpes, HPV, Molluscum from just rubbing genitals together during sex. Breast sucking is not a risk factor for HIV transmission. Try to practice safer sex with condoms all the time. Have yourself screened for HIV and syphilis and other STDs and keep healthy. regards

Thanks for the revert Dr Kakkar, Geting tested is a good option will get it done right away. I have read that for HIV transmission there has to be some exchange of fluids. Just casual touch of rub of vagina and penis can also result in exchange of fluids.

Brief Answer: Get tested Detailed Answer: Hi. Herpes, Gonorrhea have short incubation periods ranging from 2-5 days whereas Syphilis has an incubation period of 9-90 days. HIV wont manifest so early. Molluscum and HPV (warts) can manifest weeks to months after possible infection. Obviously you cant wait for an STD to happen. Therefore it is better to get tested. I think you should get tested for HIV, HSV (Herpes) and VDRL(Syphilis) at 4 weeks, from the last contact, followed by repeat testing at 12 weeks to cover the window period of infection (window period is the time after which an infection can be detected by a test). However if you develop any symptoms suggestive of STDs like any ulcer, growth/warts etc you should follow it up immediately with your dermatologist irrespective of the tests. regards
