Question : Hello Dr. I am a diabetic for last 4-5 years and am presently taking Glycomet 1G - one during morning and one during evening before sleeping. But my sugar level remains around 130 - 160 on fasting. Recently I had a chance to visit to another Dr. who has prescribed Gluconorm G-1. I have not yet started taking this medicine. There is no major weight loss and its is constant. Please advise if I should continue with the present medicine or the changed one . Thanks
Brief Answer:
You can take either of medicines.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Dear sir coming to the medicine prescribed both the medicines contain same drugs and dosage(Metformin 500mg plus Glimipiride 1mg.). And so you may take any of them and it does vary in any way. In my personal opinion, I prefer you to continue same medication rather than changing simply with out any significant change in dosage.
Coming to sugar levels, check HbA1c once and get back with the result. So that we can advice on any change of medicine or increase of dose.
Hope this guides you. For any other queries you are welcome sir.
Wishing you good health
