Brief Answer:
yes can be used

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Eliquis is one of the newer anti coagulants on the market. It can be used in persons with a history of atrial fibrillation and also in post surgery to reduce the risk of a DVT.
If you are using warfarin for one of these then you can switch to eliquis. Your doctor would discontinue warfarin and start the eliquis when your INR is less than 2.

There are other new anti coagulants such as xarelto- this one can be used in the above situations and also for treatment of DVT and pulmonary embolism. In this case the warfarin is discontinued and xarelto started when the INR is less than 3.

The other option is pradaxa, this can be used for the same indications as xarelto.

Summary- eliquis is an an option for a fib and preventing DVT instead of warfarin

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
