Can I Take ZzzQuil Along With Trazodone?
Question: I take several medications one of which is trazodone. I have had a heart attack and a stroke. Can I take zzz quil to help me sleep?

Trazodone is an antidepressive drug, but is often used for insomnia as well so it should help you sleep in its own.
Zzzquil is an antihistamine medication which can also be used for insomnia.
The two drugs have different mechanism of action and do not affect each others metabolism, do not alter each others levels. So in theory can be used together. However they both have a sedative, calming effect and if used at the same time means there is a risk of increased sedation. That is why they are not commonly used together. If trazodone is not effective at all for sleep, zzzquil can be used but close attention is needed for oversedation which might be a side effect and would indicate against continuing further combined use.
