Question: I wish to prepone my periods, next month. I got my menses today, means it will come next month around 19th July or 15th/16th July if early.

What medicine should i take? currently am taking primosa 1000. Will i have to stop that if i take any medicine to pre pone my menses ?

Brief Answer:
postponement better option.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome to HCM

I can understand your concerns,

There is no need to stop primosa 1000 tablet.

I would suggest you that postponing period is more reliable than preponing with drugs.

You can take Tablet meparte (prescription drug)10mg twice a day ,five days before your period date, continue tablet till date you want to postpone your period under your doctors' supervision.

Hope this helps,

Feel free to ask further,

Thanks.

the reason i asked for pre poning is cause, couple of years back i postponed but then had spots and uncomfortable feeling(the feeling of getting messes every now and then).

I have a four day seminar and presentations from 20th to 24th. taking 16th July date into consideration, i will have to postpone till 25th which is too many days.

I want my menses to end by 19th, hence wish to pre pone by 2-3 days instead of post pone for 8 days. so in case i can get them by 14th instead of the regular approximate date 16th

Brief Answer:
tablet norethisterone will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Sorry for the delayed response.

For preponement of periods, you would need a 5 day course of tablet norethisterone (prescription drug).
This will build up sufficiently high hormonal levels that drops over next 2-5 days when drug is stopped and withdrawal bleeding occurs.

You have to give at least 5 days for flow to stop naturally.

Hence, preponement of periods should be commenced atleast 15 days in advance to your natural periods.

Hope this helps.

I wish you good health.
Thanks.

hi,

Thank you. But you did not tell me how many tablets in a day for 5 days?

if i have understood it correctly- i should start taking the table from the 4th of July so that i get my menses around 14th July and are over hopefully by 19th July.

How many tablets a day? any specific mg dosage?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
5mg twice a day.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
You are most welcome.

The dose is 5mg twice a day.
Yes, you can start tablets from 4th july.

But take the drug only after consulting your local doctor as this is the prescription drug.

I wish you well.
Take care.

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX

Hope you are in good health.

Another question. I am 38 yr old and not married , but have a partner. My sexual life is not regular, it is like we meet up once in 2-3 months. I use i pill at that time. Recently when i had i pill had bad cramps which was probably side effect.

If i do not wish to use a condom, but go ahead with contraceptive, what can i take besides i pill, is there any kind of patch like in the USA. What would you suggest.

Brief Answer:
Copper-T is advisable in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,

Sorry for late response.

As you have told that your sexual life is not regular(once in 2-3months),so I recommend Intrauterine device(copper-T) in your case.

Copper-T is long lasting(10years),does not interfere with sexual satisfaction with very less side effects at the age of 38years.

I will advise you not to take I-pill repeatedly because it can disturb your body hormone balance.

Hope my answer helps you.

Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.

But i have heard that side effects are really bad. Two of my cousins (married) had severe bleeding and they had to get it removed. The other put on a lot of weight and terrible cramps. Another friend of mine had to get it removed within 10 days as she could not stop bleeding.

Please suggest another option

Brief Answer:
implants or depot injections.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Really sorry for the late response.

If you do not wish to go for IUDs, the other options are:
Implants like implanon or nexplanon: these work for 3 years.

Depot injections like depo provera- it has to be injected every three months.

Here, I would like to tell you that every contraceptive method has some side effects as these are hormonal preparations.

Kindly discuss about these options with your Gynecologist and proceed accordingly.

I wish you good health.

Take care.
You are always welcome for further queries in future as well.
Thanks.

gynaset or primolut

Detailed Answer:
Norethisterone may be available with brand name gynaset or primolut.

Susten 200 is basically used in maintenance of pregnancy and is used for different indications.

You can easily find out gynaset at a gynecologic hospital.
