Brief Answer:
You have the right to ask and get answered...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

First of all, as for other patients, you have the right to get informed. Everything that is prescribed to you including medications and examinations, you have the right to get informed:
- why you are using/running them?
- what benefits you get?
- what side effects/precautions you should be aware of?
- what can you do at home and when to call the doctor?

All these questions are being answered by your curing doctor. This is my personal practice too. Everything is explained to the patient with simple words and with "what-to-do" steps in cases of side effects or complications.

All this is pertaining to you, so you have the right to ask and get answered.

Now, coming to your question, it is true that using metoprolol can induce bradychardia. However, it can still be used in cases when pacemaker is placed (as in your case).

I advise to monitor your blood pressure and heart rates, record the results, and pass them to your doctor for further evaluation. If anything abnormal will be noted in your heart rhythm, he/she might tamper off (gradually reduce the dose) until get it off and prescribe another medication if necessary. Do not stop metoprolol or another drug on your own as it might lead to severe side effects.

Once again, I highly recommend to monitor blood pressure and heart rates, and pass the results to your doctor for further evaluation.

Hope it was of help! Let me know if anything unclear!
