I have gone through your query
Ichthammol ointment is not very effective in the treatment of genital herpes.
I would recommend you to continue with valciclovir.
For pain take anti inflammatory medicines like tablet ibuprofen twice daily for 5-7 days and apply topical antibiotic like fusidic acid cream on the affected areas twice daily for 7-8 days.
This will improve your pain and burning.

can you purchase fusidic acid cream over the counter or prescription only? Does gentile herpes cause a a white discharge? And, I also heard applying salt to the effected area. Regular salt or Epsom salt?

Apply neosporin ointment twice daily

Detailed Answer:
I think fusidic acid cream can be taken over the counter.
If it is not available over the counter in your country you can apply neosporin ointment on the affected area twice daily. This is available as over the counter.
Yes genital herpes can cause white discharge in some individuals.
You can try applying epsom salt though I am not very sure about its results.
