Question : Can icy hot penetrate thru skin if used with heating pad. Applied July 2018
Didn’t burn skin or have open sores. Symptoms didn’t happen next day. A few weeks later developed dry month, thick saliva that feels slimy. Have some digestive issues
I’ve gone to GP and ENT’s. GP said to drink water. Had procedure done by ENT. Irrigated saliva glands and medicine was administered. Procedure didn’t work. However salivary glands are working and producing saliva.
All doctors I’ve seen and Poison Control
center said it would not penetrate thru skin. Just trying to get more opinions and figure out what is going on.

Brief Answer:
Icy hot won’t penetrate skin to cause systemic symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query.
Icy hot won’t penetrate through the skin to cause all your symptoms of digestive and salivary glands.
It can mostly lead to irritant reactions or burns on the skin if applied in large amounts or if the patient is allergic to its contents.
It doesn’t cause systemic symptoms.
