Question : Could an impact from a car accident cause a kidney stone that has been in the kidney for several years to move and cause pain? May wife had this, and had a stone move within days and get stuck in the uteral tract, and she had to have surgery to enable her to pass it.
Brief Answer:
Yes, it can.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Yes, It is very well possible that an impact of a car accident can move a kidney stone and cause pain.
Most of the stones in the kidney are mobile, meaning they can be dislodged easily.
This is the reason when we do surgery on stones we have to fix them both sides of the tract and then touch them.
Well, although it was painful, the stone got removed.
