Can Mitral Valve Leakage Be Controlled Through A Ring?

Question: I just was at a cardiac surgeon about my nitro valve. He said my leackage is around the valve which he proposed putting a 'ring' (?) Around the valve seat , essentially limiting the opening. Opinion?,recovery? I am 62 years old good shape, not overweight
